Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find where a photo was taken?
Upload your image to our AI Location Finder. Our AI analyzes visual clues like landmarks, signs, architecture, vegetation, and terrain to determine the location. If your photo has EXIF GPS data, we'll cross-reference it with the AI analysis for higher accuracy.
How does AI determine photo location without GPS?
Our AI analyzes visual clues in the image — landmarks, architecture styles, vegetation, text on signs, road markings, and more. It uses these clues to narrow down the location from continent to country to city to specific place. This reverse image location technique works even on screenshots and social media images that have had GPS data stripped.
What types of images work best with this tool?
Outdoor images with visible landmarks, street signs, distinctive architecture, or recognizable scenery work best. The AI can identify famous buildings, natural landmarks, and cultural indicators. Indoor photos and close-ups are harder to geolocate.
Can this tool find the location of screenshots or social media images?
Yes, the AI can analyze screenshots and social media images, but accuracy depends on the content. Most social media platforms strip EXIF GPS data, so the AI relies entirely on visual analysis to find where the picture was taken.
How accurate is the AI location prediction?
Accuracy varies by image content. For famous landmarks, accuracy can be within meters. For general urban or nature scenes, accuracy ranges from city-level to region-level. The tool always shows a confidence score so you know how reliable the prediction is.
Is this AI Location Finder free to use?
Yes! Anonymous users get 1 free analysis per day with no signup required. Free registered users get 2 per day, and Pro users get 5 per day. Translation of reports is always free and unlimited.
Can I analyze multiple photos at once?
Yes. Pro users can upload and analyze multiple images in a single session. Each image gets its own full report with location, confidence score, visual clues, and satellite map. You can switch between results using the image tabs.
Can I translate the location report to other languages?
Yes. After analysis, use the language dropdown to translate your report into any of 15 languages including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish. Arabic reports render in right-to-left (RTL) format. Translations are free and unlimited.
What confidence levels does the AI provide?
The AI provides three confidence levels: High Confidence (70-100%, shown in green), Medium Confidence (30-69%, shown in amber), and Low/None (0-29%, shown in red). High confidence means the AI found strong visual evidence like recognizable landmarks or readable text. Medium means regional identification from architecture or vegetation. Low/None means insufficient visual clues to determine a location.
Is my uploaded image stored or shared?
No. Your images are processed securely and deleted immediately after analysis. We do not store, share, or use your images for any purpose beyond the location analysis.
What's the difference between EXIF GPS and AI-predicted location?
EXIF GPS is embedded by your camera/phone at the time the photo was taken — it's usually very accurate. AI prediction analyzes what's visible in the image. When both are available, we show both and compare them.
Does this tool work with HEIC and WebP images?
Yes. We support JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), and TIFF formats. HEIC files are automatically converted for analysis.
Can I download the location analysis report?
Yes. After analysis, you can download the full report as a PDF or PNG image, including the location result, confidence score, visual clues, AI reasoning, and map.
