Frequently Asked Questions

Which formats can I convert between?

You can convert any supported input format (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF) to any of the three output formats: JPG, PNG, or WebP. HEIC and TIFF are supported as input only.

Which format should I choose?

JPG is best for photos with small file sizes. PNG is ideal when you need transparency or lossless quality. WebP offers the best compression for web use (25–35% smaller than JPG at equivalent quality).

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The format conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly encoders. The only server interaction is optional metadata preservation, which copies EXIF/GPS data into the converted output.

Does converting formats lose quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG or WebP involves re-encoding, which may introduce minor quality loss at lower quality settings. Use quality 85–95 for near-lossless results.

Can I convert HEIC (iPhone) photos?

Yes. HEIC files from iPhones are fully supported as input. They can be converted to JPG, PNG, or WebP with full metadata preservation including GPS coordinates and camera info.

Is metadata preserved after conversion?

Yes. When "Preserve Metadata" is enabled (default), all EXIF, GPS, IPTC keywords, and XMP data are copied from the original to the converted output and verified by the server.
